Ho Ho Ho! It’s Christmas time!

Christmas is a lovely way to end the year and it is, unarguably, and, probably, the only festival that breaks religious barriers and instead translates into for-all, fun and fiesta! Although Christmas is set in the dull, cold winter season yet our hearts are warm and delighted. Everybody is in a happy mood. There are sales and discounts everywhere. Spirits are high. Families unite. Gifts are exchanged. Christmas is such an energetic and fantasy-like festival, isn’t it?

So, what it is about Christmas that makes it so attractive for all religious groups? Is it the positioning of Christmas in the calendar and the fact that it marks the onset of the New Year? Or, is it about that time of the year when we can utilize all our leaves and go for a vacation? Or, is it simply the environment, the happy environment, it creates that makes it so likeable. It has to be this!

Christmas is a beautiful narration in red and white and of all the good things God made for us. That’s why when you think of Christmas, you get transported into a different world of the snow and the Christmas trees, the stocking and the candy canes, the sweaters and the caps, the pies and the pudding, Santa and the gifts. But Christmas is not just about fun and the material things, it is more about happy reunions with family and friends, feasting together, it is about giving and it is about prayers.

Christmas makes us child-like, isn’t it, and is the only day when you get to see so many adults running around unabashedly in funny caps, sucking candies, and staring at the shimmering lights. We, in a way, go back in time when we were naïve and worry-free, when life was simple and it was about tales of how one big, fat, Uncle Santa would leave presents for children under the Christmas tree. In a way, Christmas is indeed that beautiful break in our lives that we so look forward to, to be like a child for a day for we have rest of the damn 364 days to behave like a grown up!

We, at VIWA, wish you and your family a merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!

What does Christmas remind you of? What is it that you want Santa to bring in the coming year?

@ Roh – Merry Christmas! Oh yes…..the holiday bit is so essential, especially for working woman like you. So, enjoy your day…treat yourself to plum cake and some rum coffee maybe! Barista or Cafe Coffee Day usually brings out these fancy potions of beverages during this time of the year. I remember having once coffee with a dash of rum, and it felt good in the cold winters of Delhi. 🙂

@ Deena – Almighty’s plan….don’t know what it is! But hope all’s good. Let’s all embrace life in the meantime!
