Mirror, mirror on the wall…

Do you feel beautiful, like before? Do you still dazzle and feel sexy? Do you grab attention and feel confident about who you are? Not sure? Let us cease all functions, steal a moment from the humdrum of everyday life and study ourselves.

Now that you are married, sure you have a lot to look after…house, husband, kids, dogs, in-laws. And the multitude of personal problems marriage brings along, handing which can be quite a challenge! It’s evident that you aren’t in your priority list; you need to take care of the entire world before you can even think of taking care of yourself. But, my darlings, the marriage madness doesn’t have to completely devour you. Taking care of yourself doesn’t really mean using all your time on yourself. It only means sparing a moment to connect with your inner self, to love yourself and for a change, nurture your own needs. Marriage is a much bigger and deeper subject than just a mere relationship between a man and a woman. It doesn’t have a defined set of intrinsic goals and neither there are rules to follow them. Hence, let marriage take care of itself, don’t worry so much.

Marriage brings two people together, from two they become one. From his girlfriend you become his wife. But, the moment you take on the coveted title, you turn from a fun-loving, pretty lover to a bored, lazy wife. You pack on few pounds, become least interested in your manicures, stop putting pretty dresses, overlook all your hobbies, ignore your friends, and totally forget the little girl in you who loves to indulge and get pampered once in a while!

It’s about time you keep aside some time, and have your own ‘personal hour.’ Take care of those fine lines and wrinkles. Set up a fitness regime. Pay attention to the changes in your body. Indulge in a shopping spree; buy that designer dress that you always wanted to own or the new makeup line you wanted to try. Start socializing. Kick start your old hobby or pick up a new one. Once in a while, abandon yourself to complete relaxation – soak in a hot tub, indulge in a massage therapy or have an afternoon siesta. And for a change, go on a date with your husband to a nice restaurant. Wear that sexy dress of yours, spend some good 30 minutes in doing your hair and makeup, and just glam up as if you are his girl not his wife. It’s time to feel beautiful again. It’s time to attend to ourselves. It’s time to make your husband fall in love with you all over again. Moreover, the effort you put on yourself reflects positively on who you are. It only means you are a hard working, energetic, and a vibrant woman, and for sure a positive influence on people around you!

You have made enough difference to someone else’s life; now make a difference to your life. So ladies, do a favor. Please take care of yourself because loving oneself is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself!

Aha!! and this is where I come in the picture. Hats off to people who find time to spend more time and money on themselves, nothing really dramatic but just basic taking care of them. When those fine lines, wrinkles, fat and flab are gone, your confidence level automatically shoots up.

@ Roh – I was expecting you here.:) Taking care of youself is really one of the nicest things you can do to yourself. And once you are trimmed and polished and feeling good, you altogether transform to a different level. The outer you and inner you are connected and are inter-dependent, I so believe.

Mirror mirror on the wall…and I see an average, ‘ok’ looking woman. Man…I gotta take care of me.

@ Anita – Don’t worry, you don’t need a time machine. You are pretty as ever…the prettiest one. 🙂
