Good habits, Great health!

There are two kinds of people. Those who exercise and those who don’t. The former is the know-all, do-all individuals. Whether it is Dieting, Cardio, Pilates, Yoga or Running, they swear by anything that’ll help keep them in shape. Infact some of their annoying habits like counting calories, curbing temptation, and unwanted advices all the time have earned them nicknames as health freaks. The second, probably the most common group, has people who also know all. Facts like exercise is important and after a certain age metabolism decreases and belly fat increases, these people know the whole story but do nothing about it. These guys aren’t ignorant, they aren’t even lazy, maybe they are just not motivated enough! This write up is precisely for people belonging to the I-don’t-exercise group!

So, exercise isn’t your thing? What it is about exercise that you don’t like? Does waking up early in the morning to go to gym infuriate you? Does ‘I’m married and settled’ feeling stop you? Or, is it simply because the very word sounds too difficult? Exercise, does sound heavy. It does look like a word full of hard work, expectation and commitment, like marriage, isn’t it? Hmmmm…Here’s a trick. Why not make exercise a part of your everyday life without going that extra mile. Sounds good? To start with, here are few things you can do to keep your weight in check and keep yourself relatively fit.

1 STRETCHING WHENEVER POSSIBLE

If you can take a mini break either from your household chores or office work, please do. Utilize this time to stretch your arms and legs. Stretching not only improves flexibility, but also increases blood flow to the muscles, and energizes you instantly!

2 TAKE YOUR ROMANCE OUT

Walking is such a lovely way to spend time with your partner. Have an early dinner and go for a walk, in your apartment campus or to a nearby park. Walking will not only help digest food but will also give you an opportunity to catch up on each other’s lives. Expressing your feelings under that sheet of stars and moon can be quite romantic too!

3 GROCERY STORE CAN BE YOUR GYM

Make the best of your grocery shopping. Stores like Walmart, Kroger and Patel Brothers are huge, they are like big playgrounds so why not take advantage. Put on a comfortable shoe, take your grocery list and just walk around those aisles!

4 WALK WHEN YOU TALK

Your phone calls can help you burn calories! All you have to do is walk when you talk. So pick yourself up from that chair and hop from one room to other, maybe stretch a bit too, and walk as much as you can.

5 PLAY WITH KIDS

Kids definitely help us keep in shape. Playing with kids is such a fun thing to do, it helps bring us closer to our darlings and gives us a chance to learn new things about them. While indoor games are fine, it is also a good idea to take your kids to a park and play some outdoor sports.

6 CHANGE IN TV HABITS

Advertisements can be annoying especially when you are watching your favorite show or movie. So instead of sitting through those unwanted commercials, why not finish your household chores – wash your clothes, clean the dishes, or simply stretch, it can be such a welcome change. Watching TV can then be a guilt-free indulgence!

7USE STAIRS, NOT ELEVATOR

You already know this. So, next time walk those stairs instead of throwing yourself at the mercy of the elevator. It can be frustrating in the beginning but eventually it will become a part of your habit. Moreover climbing two or three floors shouldn’t be that difficult.

8 ONCE A WEEK, SPRING CLEAN YOUR HOUSE

Add fun to cleaning. Put on your favorite music, have a hearty breakfast and get ready to do the job. Rub that bath tub, mop the floor, vacuum the carpets, clean the window panes and attack every nook and corner of the house. The result is rewarding. You get a clean house and a rejuvenated body after that 30 or 40 minutes of moving around!

Sometimes, all it takes is that first step and making small amendments. After that these mini exercise routines just becomes a part of your life, you embrace it and actually enjoy it. Exercise, in a way, is somewhat like marriage, don’t you think?

I come in the second catergory of ‘I know all, but I don’t exercise’….these mini routines is easy to do but again sometimes you just don’t get motivated to even do the basics. 🙂
