If diamonds are girl’s best friend, then shoes definitely have to be her dearest cousin! Her other buddies and comfort friends make her happy too, but, shoes are her all-time-favorite pick. After all diamonds cost a fortune, roses wither, chocolates make her fat and if she does pack on few pounds, clothes don’t welcome her in! But shoes are always there for her…to lift her up and take her places!
What is it about shoes that she finds so irresistible? Why does she have more shoes than she actually needs? Ask her, and most likely you’ll get ‘I don’t know, I just like them’ or ‘I don’t have a lot many’ even though she has a shoe gallery at home bursting with all the trendiest footgears! A woman doesn’t “have” shoes, she “owns” them, and like one of those exquisite art pieces she preserves her new find for as long as she can! Also interesting is the fact that shoes accept her regardless of how big or small she is. She may not find the right fit for her clothes, but she’ll always find a right shoe waiting for her to fit in! Even if she gains 5 or 10 pounds, she can still slip into her shoe and dazzle. If clothes maketh a man, it’s the shoe that completes a woman’s look!
She may not know how many shoes she has but she has an idea about how many her girlfriends have. According to a recent survey by ShopSmart magazine, the average woman in United States owns 17 pairs (it was 19 pairs four years ago), with each costing around $49! If that’s not shocking enough, here are some more fun facts. 13% of women own more than 30 pairs (not including running shoes), 31% have ever spent over $100 on a single pair and 14% admit to hiding at least one purchase from their spouse. Women prefer flats for everyday work, only 39% prefers heels, and 48% have had a shoe-related injury (blister, break, sprain, etc.)! She calls that “the sweet attack of the shoe” . That damsel loves breaking into a new pair of shoe, and thoroughly enjoys when compliments follow the pain.
The astounding national average might be shocking but don’t blame the woman, just look at the variety of shoes she has at her disposal. From sandals, peep toe heels, pointy toe heels, boots, pumps, trainers, wedges to sling backs, flats, t-strap, gladiator, espadrilles, flip flops, stilettos and what not, and heck, you even have fancy heels like kitten, cone, prism and spool, and what not! If she makes up her mind over ‘what to buy’, ‘what color’, ‘what fabric’, then she has to take ‘who to wear’ route. From ‘affordable and trendy’ brands like Yellow Box Shoes, Miss Sixty, Nine West, Chinese Laundry, Naughty Monkey, BCBGirls, to ‘comfort is the king’ names like Aerosoles, Dr. Scholls, Crocs, Naturlizer to ‘athletics’ like Adidas, Converse, Sketchers, Nike, Adidas, PUMA to ‘designers’ labels like Sergio Rossi, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Versace, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, she has a whole lot of shoe makers to pick from!
With such an array of fancy footwork, she’ll always find a pair to suit her every need and occasion. Pumps for the office, flats for the afternoon walk, sneakers for a jog, and her favorite high heels for her favorite thing – a night out with her girl friends. And when she does glam up – put on her sexy stockings and slip into her new stiletto, she is sure to make those men fall head over heels in love with her!

There goes my favorite thing in the world. Shoes. Thank you for putting up this on your website. You nailed it when you said ‘we don’t have shoes, we own them’. I have a close to 25 pairs, wear only 5 pairs though, rest all sits beautifully in my shoe closet. I like shoes in nudes and blacks, even like those bright yellows and oranges. 🙂
